Experience

I am a strategic communications consultant with over 10 years’ experience across the public and private sectors.

After a stint as a part time researcher for an MP, I began my career in professional services marketing, working with City law firms.  I also developed experience of public relations, fundraising and lobbying in the charity sector.  I spent five years in government communications, most recently advising government ministers and officials on communications strategy and leading integrated teams to support specific priorities and initiatives.

NHS communications is an area of particular expertise.  In addition to heading the NHS brand management team, and supporting the professional development of NHS communicators, I was head of strategic communications at a strategic health authority.

With experience of providing communications advice at the highest levels, from chief executives to ministers, I am used to communicating carefully nuanced issues in complex, political environments.

I have strong experience of developing integrated communications strategies, underpinned by insight and research, which bring together the whole communications mix to achieve business objectives.

But that’s not to say that I don’t spend most of my time rolling my sleeves up and getting stuck in!  I have an excellent track record of delivering all kinds of campaigns and products on target and on budget and, more often than not, against tight deadlines.

I have written, edited and produced countless publications, from brochures and newsletters to official reports laid before Parliament.

I have developed many successful websites, including:

And I have produced several highly acclaimed corporate films, including:

I have considerable experience of branding, from developing new identities from scratch, updating existing brands, and leading the team managing the NHS brand – one of the country’s few ‘superbrands’.
